“My opinion of CrossFit is that I cannot say enough good stuff about it, I absolutely love it! It has humbled me and opened my eyes…I love the actual work outs as well as the way they are designed to be small blocks of time but very intense. I cannot think of another work out program that is set up better to help an individual compete with themselves as well as with others. I really think this CrossFit is in the early stages of huge growth…I’m sure you feel the same:) Working out with others has motivated me…I could never get motivated to work out alone at all,  never mind with this sort of intensity. I have also never had professional instruction before so I am learning exercises and movements I have never done (this was one of the reasons I signed up). I am also learning that when I was working out in my youth I was doing everything wrong!

“So far, I’m loving it! I’ve been focusing on learning the correct techniques with the lifts, while staying conservative with the weight. Coach Kenny has been great and very informative.  It’s humbling to look around the gym and see everyone killing it while I struggle with much lighter weight, but I know the strength will come.  I’m not sure if you saw my first letter to Kenny, but about a year ago, I had a serious Lisfranc injury which forced me to be on crutches and a cast for over seven months.  Needless to say, my strength and conditioning went right out the window.  It’s felt awesome to work out again and get my heart rate up and sweat! Even before the injury, I was primarily a runner and martial artist, and really neglected any weight training. I haven’t really lifted weights for around eight years, and that was mostly bench press and isolation stuff.  I’m really enjoying learning the full body/compound movement lifts, and already feel stronger.

 The biggest change for me has been to adopt a paleo/primal diet.  I’ve been very strictly following the diet for a little over a month (although a few beers mixed in) and have noticed a dramatic difference in my energy levels. My appetite has regulated and I feel great. I’ve lost just under 15lbs in about a month. I’m back to doing Muay thai/ krav maga twice a week, and my conditioning has improved greatly.
 So in short, I’m loving Crossfit and look forward to continued progress.”

“My husband (a Marine) joined Torque in January 2012. He kept insisting that I try it, and I of course resisted, saying things like : “I’m not strong like you, I can’t do those things! I’ll stick to my regular gym.” i could see his disappointment. After 5 months of persistence, he got me to go with him for a free class. Needless to say, I’ve been going 5 days/week since and will NEVER go back to a regular gym. The CrossFit torque family will make you feel right at home, while you push yourself to your limits, no matter what your fitness level. Try one class. “I have been a CrossFit Torque member now for just about a month. I tried my first class on August 18, 2012 and even though my workout was 4:20 long, I was sore after. Once I left CFT I was addicted and reached out to Owner Amanda Chace and asked to sign up for the Foundations Course the following Saturday. Once I accomplished Foundations I was finally able to attend a group class. I attend 3 times a week and absolutely love it. I played college hockey and never broke a sweat as much as I do now at CrossFit.

The CrossFit community has been so welcoming, not only just the coaches, but the members as well. Whether you finish first or dead last they are there to cheer you on to help you finish strong or even stand next to you and finish the workout with you. I never understood how anyone would and could be addicted to working out, but once you try CrossFit you will totally understand. CrossFit focuses on working out your entire body verse going to a regular gym the class tend to focus on arms one day then legs the next, getting a whole body work is just so much better. “I am not a member of a military special operations unit or a champion martial artist, and I certainly would not classify myself as an elite athlete. Although one thing is for certain, ever since I joined CrossFit Torque I have increased my strength and endurance tenfold. I have lost 1½ to 2 ½ inches in my thighs, waist, bust, hips, and I even gained 1 inch in my arms! In a period of only six months, my body has changed, revealing muscles I never knew existed! No longer do I measure my fitness by my body weight. I am accumulating muscle mass and burning fat, which is quite an accomplishment at my age.

Because CrossFit by nature is designed for universal scalability, I have been able to make tremendous gains in my overall fitness level, thanks to the amazingly qualified and knowledgeable head coach Kenny Lovetere. Each and every time I complete a skill or a WOD, workout of the day, I feel exhilarated. Seriously, I actually feel happy, like big smile on your face happy. I hate to see that WOW will most likely win this award simply because of the sheer size of their member base. CrossFit Torque offers a staff that truly cares about every single member’s well-being. WOW in a conglomerate that only cares about their bottom line. Personal training comes with an extra charge. CrossFit Torque is family owned and operated and they operate solely to improve the lives of their members. The members at CrossFit Torque are fitter than anyone who will ever walk into or walk out of WOW, period.
